River Uses
The Black Warrior River and its tributaries provide a major source of drinking water for cities such as Tuscaloosa, Cullman and Jasper. It supplies half of Birmingham's drinking water as well. Numerous cities and towns near the Black Warrior or its tributaries also rely on these waterways for hydropower, industrial process water, barge traffic, swimming, fishing, and boating. In fact, Boating magazine called the river one of America’s best kept secrets for recreational boating.
