Katie Holmes ~ Program Coordinator
Between 2021 and 2022, Katie Holmes served as an AmeriCorps member for Black Warrior Riverkeeper’s Volunteer Litter Cleanups Program. In October 2023, Katie joined Black Warrior Riverkeeper’s staff as Outreach Coordinator. In 2026, as Program Coordinator, Katie will lead our new ventures in GIS mapping, respond to community members who report pollution, assist our water quality monitoring, publish our newsletters, and continue to help at cleanups and other public events.
Katie relocated to Birmingham from Washington, D.C. in 2019 after attaining a BS in Environmental Science & Policy from the University of Maryland. Much of Katie’s time in Birmingham has been spent exploring Alabama’s natural beauty with a camera in hand. Katie is motivated by her love of the wilderness to protect and celebrate Alabama’s biodiversity, and she looks forward to continuing to serve her community.
