Roy Williams

Roy L. Williams, a former member of Black Warrior Riverkeeper’s Advisory Council, has been public relations director of the Birmingham Public Library System (17 locations) since September 2015. He has 13 years experience in the public relations field, including two years as marketing director of Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School in Birmingham.

Prior to switching over to public relations in October 2012, Roy spent 25 years as a newspaper journalist, including nearly 23 years at the Birmingham News. He also hosted the Biz Talk with Roy Williams Radio Show on WAGG-AM in Birmingham for nearly five years (August 2014-January 2019).

A native of Jacksonville, Ala., Roy lives in Birmingham with his wife, Patrice, and children Naja, 25, a 2025  graduate of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine (and 2021 graduate of Auburn University, and Royce, 23, who is getting his associate degree from Jefferson State Community College this fall and preparing to finish up his undergrad at UAB or Miles College. Dr. Naja Williams begins work as a veterinarian at an animal hospital near Richmond, Va. in July 2025.
